I'm in Charlotte and my dryer still turns on, but it no longer produces any heat. Clothes stay damp even after a full cycle. Has anyone dealt with this before? Is there anything I should check myself before scheduling a repair visit?

I had the same issue here in Charlotte a few months ago. First, clean the lint filter and make sure the vent isn't blocked, since restricted airflow can prevent the dryer from heating properly. If that doesn't solve it, the heating element or thermostat could be the problem. At that point, I'd look for an appliance repair technician near me and have the unit inspected. A professional diagnosis can save a lot of time and help prevent additional damage.
