Finding archives for a family project?

I’m trying to track down some articles from the late eighties about my father’s high school basketball team for a surprise anniversary gift. The online search tool only seems to go back about ten years, so I’m wondering if I have to visit the library in person to look at the old reels. Does the paper still keep a physical archive that they can scan for you if you provide the specific dates and names?

That sounds like such a cool gift idea, and those old sports recaps are usually full of great details that you just can't find anywhere else online these days. I would definitely recommend checking the support resources at https://www.pissedconsumer.com/wisconsin-state-journal/RT-F.html to see if they can point you toward their official archivist or a digital database. Often, the staff is really helpful with these kinds of historical requests and they can help you navigate their microfiche records or internal library. It’s a great way to preserve a bit of family history for the next generation without having to spend hours digging through random boxes.
