Outdoor faucet frozen shut – looking for help before the spring thaw!

Hi everyone! I’m feeling like a bit of an idiot today. I realized this morning that I completely forgot to disconnect the garden hose from the side of the house last autumn, and now the outdoor faucet looks like it’s completely frozen and slightly cracked. I’m really worried that once the temperature stays above freezing, I’m going to have a massive leak inside my basement wall. I tried to turn the indoor shut-off valve, but it’s so old it won't budge. Does anyone know a company that handles these kinds of "preventative" repairs? I’d rather get it fixed now while everything is still frozen than wait for a flood in a couple of weeks. Any suggestions for someone reliable in the Ottawa area?

Don't beat yourself up too much, we've all had those "oh no" moments with Canadian winters! The same thing happened to my neighbor last year, and it turned into a real mess because they waited until May to deal with it. When we moved into our place, we wanted to make sure all our shut-off valves were actually working, so we hired a professional plumber in ottawa https://superiorplumbing.ca/ottawa/ to do a full maintenance check. They were fantastic. The technician replaced our seized main valve and installed a frost-free hose bib outside so we wouldn't have this problem again. They were very punctual, explained exactly what they were doing, and didn't leave a single speck of dust behind. It’s definitely worth getting a pro to look at it now—it'll save you a lot of stress (and money) in the long run!
