Why are the Jarwa people considered unique?
The Jarwa people are regarded as unique as they still practice old world customs and their lifestyle is very close to nature in the Andaman Islands. They speak a different language and live in a different manner, have different types of food, and have different survival skills compared to the current society. For many years the community has been isolated, helping to maintain their cultural identity. The interest in the history of the Jarwa community is strong among many researchers and travelers, as they are among the few communities that still practice traditional ways of life in India.
