Differentiate Between Distress and Eustress

Stress is a common part of life, but it can be either negative or positive. Distress is harmful stress that occurs when a person feels overwhelmed or unable to cope, leading to anxiety, fatigue, and reduced performance. It can negatively affect both mental and physical health if it continues for a long time.

Eustress, on the other hand, is positive stress that motivates individuals and enhances performance. It arises from exciting or challenging situations and helps improve focus, confidence, and productivity.

The main difference lies in perception—distress feels draining, while eustress feels energizing. Understanding how to differentiate between distress and eustress helps in managing stress effectively and maintaining a balanced, healthy life.

The lower back muscles play a vital role in supporting posture, stabilizing the spine, and allowing smooth movement during daily activities. Whether you are sitting at a desk, lifting objects, or engaging in physical exercise, these muscles work continuously to maintain balance and prevent injury. When the lower back muscles become weak or strained, it can lead to stiffness, discomfort, and reduced mobility, which may affect overall productivity and quality of life. One of the main reasons people experience discomfort in the lower back muscles is poor posture. Sitting for long hours with a rounded back places excessive pressure on the spine and surrounding tissues. Over time, this habit can weaken muscle support and cause tension. Maintaining a neutral spine while sitting and standing helps distribute body weight evenly and reduces unnecessary stress. Using ergonomic chairs, adjusting screen height, and taking frequent breaks can significantly support healthy lower back muscles.
